.Today is Thursday.

0.和1.都不难，因为句子含义只有一到两层。
如果我们对2和3感到略有困惑的话，其实主要不是因为我们的理解能力不够好，而是阅读方法太急。总被那些“that,in which”牵着鼻子，试图一口气读完（这是一个通病，我们以为高手就是一口气读完一个长句的，其实高手也是一个意群一个意群地读的，只不过他的停顿时间几乎可不计）。阅读速度不是眼睛在单位时间内扫过多少单词，而是懂了多少意思！
但是，通过意群来读，许多人都知道，具体怎么运用呢？
可以这样来降“速”（没有理解的阅读速度是虚的）：假想对面站着另外一人，你说话，他只能通过听你的话来复述。
比如2.
A VACUUM is a space A VACUUM 是一种空间
with nothing in it 里面什么都没有
There is not even any air in it 甚至连空气都没有
To take the air out of anything, 而要想从抽走空气
We need a pump; 需要泵
but even the best air-pump cannot take all air out. 但即使最好的泵也不可能把空气抽光
感觉不错的可以试试翻译3.这个句子，感觉太简单的就试试这句话：
4.The assertion that it was difficult,if not impossible,for a people to enjoy its basic rights unless it was able to determine freely its political status and to ensure freely its economic,social and cultural development was now scarcely contested.
不要觉得老外思维怪，只是和我们平常的相反罢了，他们喜欢“单刀直入”，“横插一杠”。第四句就是“横插一杠”的典型。他雷同于The girl who has loved you for 3 years is now......
有辅导书教导我们，“要先找句子主干”。实际上那些主干都是出书人看懂之后，添加分析的，在“看懂”的那一瞬间，根本没有分析主干这个过程。要达到这样的水平，其实离我们只有一层窗户纸。那就是在3周内，在背单词的过程中，连续复述150~200个句子。所以，这个时候，选择例句好的词汇书非常重要。最好是象“2.”句那样的。坚持下来，你的眼睛就没有思维快了。
参考理解
1.（物质）受热膨胀。。。
2.真空就是什么都没有的空间。里面没有空气。。。
3.有的国家一年四季雨水很少。农民不得不通过灌溉来给庄稼浇水。如果农田附近有水流充沛的河流，那么灌溉就非常容易了。
4.这句话就不说了，反复对比The girl who has loved you for 3 years is now就可以理解这句话。
