GMAT考试内容为：数学、语文和分析写作。GMAT考试内容包括七个部分试题，每个Section的考试时间为30分钟，其中有阅读理解、句子改错、问题求解、数据填充以及原因评述各一个部分。剩下两个部分的题型分布都不一样。这七个Sections试题中有一个是试测性部分，不计入GMAT成绩。但由于分辨不出哪个Section不计分，因此所有部分的试题均要认真回答。
GMAT考试内容考察主要包括基本语言能力和数学能力。基本语言能力部分着重考察阅读理解的能力和是否掌握标准书面英语的规则。数学能力部分则主要测试基本数学，对基础数学概念的了解以及解释数学问题和数据的能力。考题中并不涉及经济学各专业中的具体内容或特殊的专业知识，而是要求考生对某些复杂纷纭的问题做出正确的分析和判断，制定解决问题的方法。

GMAT考试结束后，考生可以根据自己在考试中的表现，选择保留或取消本次考试成绩，从而一定程度上避免因为表现较差导致的低分被计入成绩单中。但即使考试选择了取消成绩，成绩单上仍会出现一个代表取消的“C”，对于追求完美的考生来说多少有些心里不踏实的感觉，而本次改变后，此标示将被彻底删除，以后也不会再显示在成绩单上，考生可以更加放心刷分，而不必担心因此留下任何记录。而之前考试成绩单中的取消标示，也将被一并删除。
