Its length and width measure up to 250 kilometers each and covers an area of 592.88 kilometers. Wutai mountain is the most famous of the "four Buddhist Shrines" and the five Buddhist holy places in the world. In 2009, UNESCO listed it on the World Heritage List as a cultural landscape.
