山顶洞人属晚期智人，生活在距今约2.7万年至3.4万年之间，因1930年在北京市周口店龙骨山北京人遗址顶部的山顶洞内发现这种晚期人类的化石而得名。从出土的石器、骨角器、鱼类化石、埋葬和穿孔饰物推断，山顶洞人已具备高级智能。他们生活的时代已经进入了母系氏族公社的时期，已经掌握了磨光、钻孔、用赤铁矿染色和捕鱼等技术。

Upper Cave Man
The Upper Cave Man, a kind of later intelligent human, lived between 27,000 years and 34,000 years ago. It got this name since the fossils of such late human species were discovered in a cave of the mountain above the ruins where Peking Man was discovered in the Longgu Mountain, Zhoukoudian, Beijing in 1930. Inferred from the unearthed stoneware, horn objects, fish fossils, burial and piercing jewelry, the upper cave men are characterized by high intelligence. They lived in the period of matrilineal commune, and commanded the technologies of polishing, boring, colouring with hematite and fishing.
